QUESTION: What is your position at PHYTEC?
PCB Layout Engineer

QUESTION: What made you want to get into your field?
For the past couple of years, I have been a member of Husky Robotics at the University of Washington. Here, I gained experience designing and assembling circuit boards for the Mars rover we build. The PCB layout portion of this was something I particularly enjoyed. It was an interesting mix of engineering and art that prompted one to think outside the box.

QUESTION: What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
We’re less likely to get color blindness.

QUESTION: What woman inspires you and why?
One woman that inspires me would be Jessica Cox. She was born without arms and became the world’s first licensed armless pilot and black belt in the American Taekwondo Association. She is also a motivational speaker and goes all over the world to inspire people with her message.

QUESTION: Are there any assumptions about women that you would like to change and why?
I would like to change the assumption that women are always very interested in makeup. This assumption that someone is good at or enjoys doing makeup simply because they are a woman tends to influence the younger generation and normalizes beauty standards.

This assumption that someone is good at or enjoys doing makeup simply because they are a woman tends to influence the younger generation and normalizes beauty standards.”

QUESTION: What do you believe will be the biggest challenge for the generation of women behind you?
Maybe to normalize equality everywhere and diminish stereotypes that have developed.

QUESTION: What advice would you give a woman who wants to enter the same field as you?
The most important advice I can give is to get experience in the field either through a club, internship or research lab.
