Meet Maddy from Customer Engineering

Serah Peterson 03/17/2020

Engineering was a foreign world which has made learning and exploring this subject even more enthralling.

QUESTION: What is your position at PHYTEC?
Test Technician

QUESTION: What made you want to get into your field?
Curiosity is what led me to electrical engineering. Engineering was a foreign world which has made learning and exploring this subject even more enthralling. My reasoning for hardware was that I take delight in assembling physical things. Overall, I enjoy the field’s constant development of new projects, for it is so invigorating.

QUESTION: What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
People put a great amount of trust in me.

QUESTION: What woman inspires you and why?
There are so many women that have inspired my life, including those at PHYTEC. Because of the wording of the question I will only share one, her name is Mrs. Winnie. She has allowed herself to become a cornerstone in her neighborhood and community. She sacrifices her time, patience and abilities in hopes to revive those living around her. What truly inspires me is her servant minded heart, her attitude is that serving is not a chore but it is an opportunity to connect with others.

QUESTION: Are there any assumptions about women that you would like to change and why?
That women are afraid to grow and look old. Not everyone gets to grow old. For myself it is a privilege to age and learn with the previous, current and upcoming generations.

For myself it is a privilege to age and learn with the previous, current and upcoming generations.”

QUESTION: What do you believe will be the biggest challenge for the generation of women behind you?
Remembering to daily give back to others that are your peers, younger or older than you.

QUESTION: What advice would you give a woman who wants to enter the same field as you?
Take responsibility to reach out to the community around you. Be humble enough to honestly ask for help. In the same regard, do not forget to support and give back to those around you. Learn how to solder, it is empowering knowledge and it is fun.
