This Father’s Day, we’re shining the spotlight on two of our very own PHYTEC dads—one who keeps our tech running smoothly and another who keeps customer relationships just as solid. Whether they’re troubleshooting IT tickets or closing deals, these dads bring the same dedication, humor, and dad-joke energy to their roles at PHYTEC as they do at home. Let’s celebrate the wisdom, wit, and warmth of a few of our resident phyDADs!

Alex O’Brien

IT Systems Administrator
  • How has fatherhood shaped your perspective on your role at PHYTEC?
    • Fatherhood has positively shaped my perspective on my role at PHYTEC. I am proud of my kids the way that I am proud of the work I do at PHYTEC.
  • What’s something your kids have taught you recently?
    • My kids are always teaching me patience and how to focus on the positives of life instead of the negatives.
  • Has being a dad helped you see technology or engineering differently?
    • Seeing how quickly my son can grasp technology concepts makes me want to teach him how to build computers and code ASAP.
  • What’s your signature dad joke?
    • By far, my son’s most frequently used comment to me is “Dad, I’m hungry.” To which I always answer the same way – “Hi Hungry, I’m dad.”

Richard Kachele

Technical Sales Executive
  • How has fatherhood shaped your perspective on your role at PHYTEC?
    • I want to be a good example to show up, do my best to perform, and communicate the hard and exciting aspects of work to give my perspective and leave room for processing.
  • What’s something your kids have taught you recently?
    • This is hard, because you learn in tidbits every single day. Sometimes they teach me a word I’ve never heard, sometimes how life doesn’t have to be as complicated as it is made to be, sometimes their willingness to push on in hard things empowers me to do the same…lots of light bulbs in lots of different ways.
  • What’s your signature dad joke?
    • I like to do dumb stuff like make a loud chewing noise when they take a bite at the dinner table (I live for the rolling of the eyes, the “come on Dad” shaking of heads, and every once and a while – get someone to crack a smile). But my youngest son is the king of “Dad” jokes. The latest joke he literally started while he was asleep and then finished the punchline the next morning when he woke up. “What do you call a short person who waves?…zzz…a microwave.”
